B.M.F.

5th February 2012

Cold & Snow!

Just three of us up there for an hour today; Richard Bottomley me and James.

An hour was too long for me but the hardy types made me stay so we could all leave together.

James's Uno Wot ticking over in the snow as was I , barely ticking over!

A nice carbon copy unercarrage and the models OK but the choice of colour is not good against a pale sky.

Richards Model? How many fins do you need?

28th January 2012

First Decent Day this Year!

Just about all the cold weather crew turned up on Saturday and though the temperature was only just above freezing the edge was taken off this by the winter sunshine and almost no wind. Lots of flying and even more gossip but wasn’t that ever the case when a bunch of boys (+ one girl) with toys get together.

All sorts of models flew from aerobatic, trainers, vintage, helicopters and even a three channel 'Bitsa'.

15 January 2012

Cold and misty later but an enjoyable day with quite a lot of maintenance work completed at the Whams. A nice new model on show and some old favourites.

Hanger 9 Pulse which is bigger than it looks. That is an OS 120 up front.

Lots of power - just enough to shake the enine mounts slack. No problem landing with a wobbly engine however so it lives to fly once more.

Take off! Powered by OPTIFUEL or it looks more like a steam engine with all that smoke.

18th December 2011

By Ek! it was cold today at the Whams. Just five of us for a very short time but I did manage to test fly, without breaking it, James's Uno-Wot powered by an OS Rotary engine. Very strange and dificult to start but once running it throttles beautifully and pulls like a train. It needed a bit of down trim and even less left aileron trim to to sort it out into level flight but before the next outing the aileron movement needs just about halving to tame the roll. I should obey the instructions and believe Chriss Foss must know best.

The last two pictures on the above right come from the Barlow Clan from a visit to Catton Hall LMA show. The flying model is a Flair Hannibal they fly.

Incidently if anyone is reserching old magazines get in touch with the Barlow Boys they are now have Colin Thompsons library going back ove 40 years. A good bit of modelling history there then.

12th November 2011

Paul Hudson has been saying "Dull and Damp" for the past week now so it was good to get out on Saturday in fine clear weather with hardley any wind. A good variety of modells and modellers turned up with just enough breaks for the helicopters to have a turn without having to go over to the reserve field.

Is Mark performing an autopsy? His position is much the same as the "surgeons" I have seen up at the HRI morgue.

Nice artwork! Pitty I had to leave before I saw it fly.

First Flights - Old and New Models

Colin Thompson & Club Member extraordinary would recognise the Black Magic now re-engined (or more strictly correctly termed re-motored) by Jim. The landing is mine and the picture by Jim.

Richards new model ready to go and flying well

Barry Barkers Golden Era Racer (35cc glow powered) quite impressive at Elvington but definatly more so up at the Whams.

Nice model Dave - if I have the right man.
