January’s Indoor Meeting
Now run by Blackstone Model Flyers the event was attended by enough enthusiasts to defer about two thirds the cost of the hall. The extra space made model flying less prone to mid-air collisions and Bill and David were almost pylon racing at one point though it was hard to determine if they were racing in the same circuit. There was the usual crop of helicopters flying at the bottom side of the gym. James, my son, even got quite proficient at flying my Blade MXR so that looks like another model I will only get 50% of the stick time on now.
Thank you to the members who supplied the prizes. James won the bottle of wine and Bill won the Apache helicopter.
I can only apologise for the poor quality of the photographs I took and I have selected a poor best set.
Footnote: These events are nothing to do with any other club though all BMFA members are welcome to attend. Contrary to information published elsewhere the college is entirely happy with our insurance and we hope to see a few more old faces at the next event.

Update on "The Bounty"
Selwin has started buliding it helped by his grandson (ten years old) and reckons it will take all winter to finish at two hours a night.
Thanks again to Michael for a superb prize and I am only glad that it was won by someone who appriciated it.
Second 2011/12 Indoor Meeting
Big thanks to all who attended making it another successful evening. The fix wing models are definitely getting bigger though the helicopters appear to have levelled off in size at about 18 inches overall length for a big one. It was good to see some new fix wing models particularly those of Bill and David with identical kits and David Elam’s which was the largest in the room.
The raffle just paid for the room and we must thank Michael Goode for providing an excellent kit of the Bounty as a prize. This was won, after much effort by Selwyn who has now got his grandsons Christmas present. I hope he is a good builder because there is hours of work in that kit. Second prize, the usual bottle of Spanish plonk, went to one of our visitors from the West Yorks Model Club. They had some nice models and it was good to have a chat about model flying over Rishworth way which is an area I know quite well. I hope they sorted out the “interference” affecting one of their models on 2.4 GHz. A bit worrying because I always believed this was impossible.
It always surprises me how few mid-air crashes there are in the hall but even when they happen the EPP models survive and even the helicopters clip back together in a very short space of time.
AGM’s and Christmas ruled out another evening in December but make a note of the 20th of January 2012 for the next meeting.
