4th Fix Wing competition October 16th.
October 16th, Jim's birthday, must have been a good one because I managed a very decent place (joint 3rd with Rick Mathews) in the final Limbo event of the year. We kicked off at one o'clock promptly with four entrants but picked up Stan Hanus just before we put the poles away when he promptly moved us all, except John Mosley, down a place by coming second.
I flew first with the Boomarang and managed four passes under the tape inside two minutes. I did another after time because I hadn't heard "TIME" called. Dosn't help being a bit deaf!
John followed up with a very steady eight and would have done more but he cut the tape at about one minute fifty.
Rick followed on with a slightly wobbly fun fly model (results of an arrival during practice and emergenct repairs) and, thankfully for my points overshot once during the circuits and he equaled my four passes.
Steven agreed to have a go with his indestructable flying wing which, in the now very gusty conditions, appeared to be quit a handful. Very quickly he landed out before he had made the tape but being electric picked it up and was in the air again in seconds; unfortunatly his firs attempt went through the tape not under so he eliminated himself.
Stan now chose to turn up and with his forty year old model (pictured on the Whams page) proceeded to make seven clean passes to take second place.
Rick and I came third equal in this event and as the rules state the third person in each competition chooses the following event. As Rick was also third in the last (rolls and spot landing) event I claim the right to organise the first competition of 2012. For what I have in mind I hope it is a calm day.
John flying very steadily

Chinese pilot Rick (Wun-Wing-Lo) Is the wingtip actually dragging on the ground?

Steve (where is the model) Heathcoat

Finally Stan moveing everyone but John down a place
Final results for 2011.
First John Mosley 32 points
Second Mike Whitehouse 26 points
Third 'Lectric Paul 22 points
Fourth Rick Mathews 17 points
Fourth (or 5th) Alec 17 or 16 points ( Did we say we had to discard 2 out of six events or 3 out of six)
It is a bit unfair, I think (but I would wouldn't I) if I have to discard a point and move down a place when I am the only pilot to have flown four competitions.
Sixth David Elam 12 points
Seventh Richard Steadman 11 points
Eighth Stan Hanus 10 points
Nineth Kevin Potts 8 points
Tenth Lech Howrot 6 points
Eleventh Mark Edmonds 5 points
Twelvth equal Steve Heathcote 4 points
Joe Priestnall 4 points
